Marking Time

MoreArts, Artist in Residence
Moreland Station Waiting Room
October 23 - December 19, 2016

This research residency at Moreland Station's Waiting Room sought to unravel how places connect us with other moments in time. Moreland Station was constructed from bricks manufactured in Brunswick, which were created from local clay deposits. A series of ephemeral works in and around Brunswick will trace the bricks origins and explore the stories embedded in their history.

Visit the project website www.markingtime.com.au to view the works created, including an animation, ephemeral stencils, installation and series of Time-Walks.

Marking Time ventures through time and space to trace the origins of one small place on Earth: Moreland Station, Coburg, Australia. By tracing the origins of the bricks that built the station - the stories embedded within them - back to their elemental beginnings in Brunswick’s clay holes: this short animation expands the deep time origin of place against an astronomical perspective. This project is the culmination of a research residency for MoreArts 2016, based at Moreland Station's Waiting Room. With thanks to Moreland City Council.
